Philosophy
It is through sustainability that we want to satisfy the needs of the people of today with the bio-chem products and technologies, and to use resources in a way that also further generations may benefit from them.
As early as 2002 to 2004 we took part in the be.st project of “Cooperative sustainability-oriented benchmarking” of future e.V., together with four other small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It was accompanied scientifically by the Wuppertal-Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy. This innovative project established a connection between the demanding requirements of sustainability and the application in SMEs, and with its help the corporate processes of Bio-Circle Surface Technology GmbH could be developed following the principles of sustainability and compared to other enterprises.
History
Founded as a kind of garage start-up by graduate engineers Ulrich and Manfred Berens, over the years CB Chemie und Biotechnologie has developed into an internationally operating enterprise with approx. 70 employees in Germany. Branch offices and production sites have been established in Europe and the world; the distribution network in Germany has been expanded continuously. The company’s constant presence at domestic and international trade fairs and exhibitions also helps promote innovative reactions to ideas and markets.
As of 2010, CB Chemie is now called Bio-Circle Surface Technology GmbH. Against the backdrop of our internationally oriented corporate strategy the change of name enables us to design and strengthen our know-how globally.

1985 Foundation of CB Chemie und Biotechnologie GmbH in Verl by graduate engineers Ulrich und Manfred Berens
under the name of Ingenieurbüro für Chemie und Biotechnologie.
1987 The first employees are hired for production and office
1988 BIO-CHEM becomes the brand name for the manufactured products
1989 The first employees are hired for sales and marketing
1991 Change of the company’s name into CB Chemie und Biotechnologie GmbH
1993 Erection of the company building in Berensweg in Gütersloh
1997 Establishment of branch offices in Gmunden, Austria, and Rotkreuz, Switzerland
2002 Commencement of business at the production sites in Montreal, Canada, and São Paulo, Brazil.

2002 Expansion of the production area and the office building
2004 Commencement of business at the production site in Istanbul, Turkey.
This production site supplies the market in Turkey and Iran.
2004 bio-chem Surface Technology is registered as a Word picture mark with the German Patent- and Brand Office
2005 Foundation of the branch office in Katowice, Poland
2006 Commencement of business at the production site in Coimbatore, India.
This production site supplies the market in India and the United Arab Emirates.
2008 Foundation of the branch establishments in Targu Secuiesc/Romania and Brno/Czech Republic.
2009 Takeover of SEPRO Umwelttechnik Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H & Co.KG by CB Chemie und Biotechnologie Ges.m.b.H. in Austria, and foundation of bio-chem SEPRO Surface Technology GmbH in Linz.
2010 The company name of CB Chemie und Biotechnologie GmbH was changed to Bio-Circle Surface Technology GmbH.
2011 25th anniversary of the company
2012 Establishment of branch offices in Madrid, Spain, Moscow, Russia, and Dubai, UAE.
